Accessibility statement

The Chartians is committed to providing a digital experience that people can use, including people with disabilities.

Standards we are working towards

This website is built towards WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and with the expectations of the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) and IS 17802 in mind, in the spirit of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

We want to be precise about what that means: this is a statement of the standard we are engineering towards, not a claim of conformance. No independent accessibility audit of this website has been completed. We do not claim certification, and we do not claim that the site passes any regulator's assessment. Where we say something has been tested, we mean by our own team.

What has been built in

Semantic structure
Landmarks, one main heading per page, and a heading order that follows the document rather than the type size.
Keyboard operation
Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard. The navigation sheet traps focus while open, closes on Escape, and returns focus to the button that opened it.
Visible focus
A high-contrast focus indicator on every focusable element, on both light and dark sections.
Skip link
A "Skip to main content" link is the first focusable element on every page.
Reduced motion
With "reduce motion" enabled in your operating system, scroll reveals render instantly and the scrolling text strip stops moving.
Motion controls
The scrolling text strip pauses on hover and on focus, and has an explicit pause button. It carries no information that is not also available as ordinary text.
Text and zoom
Fluid type, no fixed-height text containers, and layouts that reflow rather than clip at 200% zoom.
Colour and contrast
Colour pairings are chosen against WCAG AA contrast ratios. Where something is included or not included, that is stated in words and marked with an icon — never by colour alone.
Data tables
Regulatory tables keep their table semantics with proper row and column headers. On small screens the table scrolls inside its own container; the page itself never scrolls sideways.
Touch targets
Interactive controls are at least 44×44 CSS pixels with clear separation.
Print
Regulatory and legal documents have dedicated print styles that drop navigation and decoration while keeping headings, tables, dates and registration details.
Without JavaScript
Page content, navigation links, product information and every compliance document are present in the served HTML and remain readable if scripts do not run.

Known limitations

We would rather tell you about these than have you discover them:

  • Third-party services. Subscription checkout and KYC are handled on an external payment portal, and research is delivered through Telegram. Those services are not built by us and their accessibility has not been assessed by us. If you have difficulty completing checkout or KYC, contact us and we will help you through it directly.
  • No formal audit yet. Automated checks and our own manual keyboard and zoom testing have been performed. Full screen-reader testing across NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack, and independent verification, are still outstanding.
  • Regulatory tables. Complaint disclosure tables are prescribed in a fixed format. On small screens they scroll horizontally inside their own container. We have kept them as real tables rather than converting them to images, so screen readers can still read them cell by cell.
  • Documents. Where a regulatory document is published as a PDF, we do not assume the PDF is accessible. Tell us and we will provide the content in an accessible format.

Tell us about a problem

If any part of this website is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to know — including which page, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology, browser or device you were using, if you can tell us.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five working days, and we will tell you what we intend to do about the issue and when. If your report is a formal complaint about our services rather than about this website, our grievance redressal process sets out the full escalation path.

How this statement is maintained

This statement describes the site as rebuilt in August 2026. It will be updated when an independent audit is completed or when known limitations change.
